Written in the late 1960's in memory of the composer's father-in-law whose sudden death inspired this work of loud and sad protest. Stentorian polychords of the first theme cry and scream in a towering rage. Contrasting that is severely quiet and distant secondary material. The final anger reaches terrifying heights before subsiding into the mists of a modal epilogue.
