Following an opening fanfare, the choral vocals also offer and fanfare-like proclamation to "Make straight a highway for our God!" This Advent anthem brings a joyous expectation of Christ's coming. There are several harmonic surprises that are fresh, yet singable. A contrasting legato section soon crescendos into a jubilant recapitulation of the opening theme. Delightful!
