Around 1880, the inspiration for this text and tune came to a circuit-riding minister named Josiah Alwood while he was riding his horse! The revival-style tune is sweet and deserves to be better known. Speaking of a home "far beyond the skies," this anthem is perfect for All Saints or memorial occasions. Featuring three males soloists (low, medium and high voices) sometimes set against standard SATB writing, this is fun to learn and sing.
