With its unique title, "A Million Notes" was inspired by Psalm 136 and celebrates a lifetime of musical service and devotion. Pepper Choplin writes "just for fun, I calculated (and guessed) that in their lifetime, a church accompanist could play several million notes and a choir member could very well sing a million and a half." This anthem's 1,004 piano notes, 778 choir notes, and 240 flute notes--for a total 2,022 notes--remind us that "the love of the Lord is forever and ever."
