For SATB Voices and Assembly, a cappella

A powerful piece for choirs and assemblies that observe the Veneration of the Cross on Good Friday. The text is an ancient Latin hymn, containing two alternating refrains for the congregation; the choir verses expand from unison to a four-part setting, growing in both intensity and density as the piece progresses. The text evocatively links the tree of life, the wood of the manger, and the wood of the cross.
